In this class I am learning how to jump rope, play badminton, and to learn a little more about the muscles in our body that we should be excercising. Sometimes we do homefun which is basically homework that have questions that you have to answer.
ShotokanDancing We are learning how to dance. My teacher is slowly telling us what to do. First we learned about the electric slide. To do the electric slide there are crtain steps you have to follow to do the dance. Normally, the electric slide is a group dance, but you could dance it alone. First, if you do tap do a grapevine, or side, back, front, tap. Do the same to the left side. Then go back and tap tap tap kick-swing. That is the electric slide. Then we learned the salsa. This is for two people. All you have to do is go back forward four times and then gog side to side. After you do that you cross over your second foot four times.
This reminds me of when I was in fourth and fifth grade. We learned to square dance. It was a lot of fun because we were taught a lot of fun dances. It was also challenging because sometimes you can't get the right moves. Badminton We have been playing badminton for a couple weeks either playing doubles or singles. Doubles is where two people play against another two people. Singles is a one on one game. In badminton, there are two things that you work with. The first thing is the racket, which is a long pole with a netting across the top. This is what you useto hit back to the other team. Instead of a ball, you use a shuttlecock (also known as a birdie). A shuttlecock is a small ball with netting flying from it. When you start bouncing this instriment it sort-of looks like a bird flying throught the air.
This game can in a way relate to tennis. I have taken tennis lessons a couple times, but then quit. Badminton is like tennis because in both games you have a racket and a net. Tennis has a ball instead of a birdie though. Jump Rope For the past few weeks we have been working on a jump rope unit in P.E. At the end we would have to take a test for our jump roping skills. You had two options: see how many jumps you can do in a minute or make a routine with a partner consisting of eight moves we learned. Our skill level would be matched with our partner. The first week all we did was practice footing for jump rope jumps, and start practicing them. After that, we had little rotationary stations where we would go and practice the move they are teaching us. for the last week our routines were formulated and we were practicing them for the test. My routine with my partner was: skiers, bells, scissors, straddle cross, jogging step, side straddle, twist, and side swing. In between all the tricks we did two basic jumps. I got an eleven out of ten on my test.
